▶ Your Answer :
In the aformentioned letter, the author recommended that the city should prohibit skateboarding in Central Plaza and that it will improve the level of business in Central Plaza. It seems plausible at the first glance, however, it does not make me convinced because of the lack of some needed questions to persuade people.
First of all, the author has to questoin whether the increase of skateboard users has led the decrease in Central Plaza stores' business. Although the number of shoppers in Centra Plaza has been steadily decreasing during two years, the popularity of skateboarders has incrased dramatically. It means that there are no gournds to show the relationship the decrease of stores' income and the increase of skateboard users. If the economic condition of the city has been worse, it is reasonable that the number of shoppers in Central Plaza has decreased. In this reason, we cannot know whether the skateboarders are the reason of the decrease of shoppers. Moreover, the increase of skateboarding users caoud provide the increase of shoppers not the decrease because the skateborders could be the latent customers also increase. So, the author should provide the answer about the question of relationship between skateboard users and the decrease of shoppers in Central Plaza.
Also, the question whether the relation between vandalism and skateboard users would exist or not should be ansered to convince author's recommendation. The author indicated that there are a close relation between skateboarders and vandalism. It is possible that ther are other reasons that have caused a decline of Central Plaza. A crime rate around Central Plaza may have incrased and the vandalism may be caused by these criminals.
Finally, the author should provide the answer about the question whether the prohibitin of skateboaridng can reaaly engender the promotion of business in Central Plaza again. If the inital number of skateboarding users is negligible, the prohibitoin of skateboaridng cannot provide a substantial increase of shoppers in Central Plaza. Moreover, the other factors can reap a more benefit than the prohibition of skateboarding. Shop owners in Central Plaza would make cultural events and provide coupons. Also, they could make new performance with skateboarders to attract more people to Central Plaza.
In the light on, the author cannot convince me because of the lack of essential questions to insist this argument. To persuade to accept this recommendation, the author should go extra mile to answer the aforementioned quesions. |
