Can we say that all students need to study same national curriculum before deciding specific major in university or college? In some sense, it might be true in the context of normalizationing of student's ability without lacks of some subjects. By ignoring advantages from respecting its characteristics, however, this asserment experience some problems.
Of course, national curriculum enables students to learn same depth and width of subject. It means that no matter what one region experiences lack of qulity of learning or education systems or teachers, students in the region still have learn the same level of education. For example, Korea try to develop national curiculum subject(ncs) to formalize and normalize subject and curriculum to let student who expernce low qulity of education to meet their educational satisfaction and not let them behind qulity of eudcaiton.
However, national curriculum allows student not to focus their own characteristics. National curriculum has its meaning of normalizing but this normalizing also means killing of each characteristics of student. For example, in morden society, many students have been suffered pressure of normality in school. In other words, students who have different tasty of leaning still have desire to learn more specific or deeper context with another way of learning. when I was middle school student, my interesting was making a film. Unfortunately, I had to be pushed by school curriculum with mathematics and science to meet national norm, and I did not have any opportunity and chance to discuss my interest with others. Thus, national curriculum without respecting students characteristics, does not make student to have more qulity life pursuing their own interest.
Furthermore, in the context of education with nationality students do not have the chance to show off their creativity. It means that because national curriculum has its rules, method, and rigid context, student have to follow the direction under the power of nationality. Accordingly this rigid atmosphere let students and teachers do not have any space to revise and modify their learning. Korea is well know its national curriculum under the minystry of education. Of course Korea has known their ability of mathematics but their creativity is not prominent. It is evident that Korea has rich industry of economics but industry of culture and music, and art is low level. I can blame Korean educational system to have poor cultural and creativity industry. Thus, to foster students creativity, education system have to be flexible.
