▶ Your Answer :
Citing various
figures of Adams’ business operation, the author argues that Adams is better
than Fitch; however, his claims are rife with holes and poor assumptions. The
correlation between his three evidences, in terms of employee numbers, revenue,
selling speed, and the alleged superiority was not established cogently.
Even though the numbers of agents
are higher than Fitch, this factor does not guarantee that Adams’ 40 agents are
better workers than Fitch’s. Perhaps the 40 workers slack more time than the
counterparts. Or perhaps the working system in Adams unnecessarily needs more
people than Fitch for more paper works. In this modern society, with the advent
of computer technology, one man business owners are pandemic. Therefore, the
author’s insisting with the agent number is not plausible supportive.
In addition to the illogicality
about the worker numbers, reporting revenue is not relevant to draw the argument
either. Despite the higher revenue than Fitch’s, Adams may not well manage
their business. In other words, the author overlooked the fact that what most
matters is the net income, not revenue. If Adams total cost for the financial
year is higher than Fitch, which may lead to that Fitch has higher net income
than Adams.
Lastly, even though the writer claimed
that he has sold his house fast, in one month, this time of period cannot be
regarded as a “fast.” In the real estate world, according to Wall Street
Journal, astronomical numbers of transactions occur even in a day. Also, in
order to argue that one month is fast, average selling time in the area should
be provided, including Adams, Fitch, and other real estate agencies.
Thus, in order to evaluate the argument more cogently,
the author would be needed to examine more data that include, but are not
limited to: Adams’ agents’ work performance, audit report for the both
companies, and the average time of selling in the given area.
In short, assessing business owners
should be carefully implemented through diverse considerations including
finance status, reputations, and work performances. However, the argument did
not provide sufficient corroboration with multi-perspective oriented
viewpoints. Thus, the author must provide more evidence that can support his
argument about the Adams’ superiority. |
