▶ Your Answer : There is some disagreement over whether formal education discourage people from setting their minds and spirits free. Some people might believe that letting people’s minds and spirits free is not important as far as education is concerned. In this following essay, however, will argue that preventing one’s minds and spirits from limiting them is important and how to formal education restrain them. To begin with, formal education can hinder students from pursuing their fields of interest. It is common for students that they have less opportunity to choose subjects which they want to learn when they are under the situation of formal education. Those students whose liberty in education strictly limited is likely to feel that those subjects do not interest them, which might discourage them from being motivated to study hard. Therefore, they might not put their best effort to pursue those given subjects, resulting in poor concentration and academic performance in their school. In this sense, educational policy with more opportunity to pursue students’ fields of interest need to be guaranteed. Moreover, formal education might be difficult to include exceptional cases. In this current society, people have often witnessed the limited capacity of formal education because there have been significant exceptional cases that standardized education cannot deal with. For example, some prodigies in diverse fields have had difficulty to find specific curriculums which match their needs. Those curriculums might need to ensure both consisting of high leveled courses in the specific files and excluding courses hampering their focus on their fields. Unless solid curriculums for those prodigies’ better achievement are ensured, their great minds can be significantly impaired by formulated curriculums, and thus our society might lose future wizards, who can produce outstanding advancement for not only our current society but also for a wide rage of humanity such as Newton and Pythagoras. Thus, formal education can impede students’ growth and their untrammeled growth need to be guaranteed by allowing great individuals to evolve their great minds freely. In conclusion, in light of above-mentioned points, I agree with the statement that the tendency of formal education, impeding students from evolving their minds and spirits.
