TRAVEL AGENT: European Holidays. How may I help you?
CUSTOMER: You are running a special on travel to Spain, are you not?
TRAVEL AGENT: That would be correct. Three of our travel packages are being offered at incredible discount prices, but only for a limited time. The sale ends, oh, next week Wednesday, I believe.
CUSTOMER: Good timing, then. My wife and I are planning a trip for next month.
TRAVEL AGENT: Fantastic. For how long will you be travelling?
CUSTOMER: Um, ten days I believe. It’s, uh, all the holiday time we have this year.
TRAVEL AGENT: Right, I understand.
CUSTOMER: Could you tell me a bit about the different packages?
TRAVEL AGENT: I’d love to. We have a city tour, a coastal tour, and a nature getaway package.
CUSTOMER: We aren’t so fond of being out in nature, unfortunately. But the city and coastal tours sound lovely.
TRAVEL AGENT: I can tell you they are. I went on the city tour earlier this year, and the coastal tour last year.
CUSTOMER: Which did you like better?
TRAVEL AGENT: (Laugh) Well, I probably shouldn’t say, but if I had to go on one of them again, I’d go for the coastal tour. The Mediterranean coast is simply divine, and it’s a great break from smoggy London.
TRAVEL AGENT: You visit Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante...oh, and Malaga.
CUSTOMER: Isn’t that a lot of places in only 10 days?
TRAVEL AGENT: Well, Spain is quite small. You can fly between any of those destinations in less than an hour. We find people prefer two to three days in each location.
TRAVEL AGENT: Or we have the city tour, which brings you to Spain’s three most popular urban destinations.
CUSTOMER: Madrid, Barcelona, and...?
TRAVEL AGENT: Seville.
CUSTOMER: Oh, right. That sounds nice too.
TRAVEL AGENT: It’s a better option for those who are into culture, food, and the arts.
CUSTOMER: That’s us, to a tee.
TRAVEL AGENT: Shall we book your trip then?
CUSTOMER: Hold on. What are the cost differences between those two packages?
TRAVEL AGENT: Let’s see... The city tour is £500 per person, and the coastal tour, uh... £400.
CUSTOMER: I suppose the accommodations are more expensive in the cities.
TRAVEL AGENT: Exactly.
CUSTOMER: What’s all included in the price?
TRAVEL AGENT: Round-trip airfare from London, all accommodations and transportation within Spain, and various cultural activities, depending on which package you choose.
CUSTOMER: So no meals?
TRAVEL AGENT: I’m afraid not. Although, some of the hotels do offer a complimentary continental breakfast.
CUSTOMER: And what level of accommodations are we talking here?
TRAVEL AGENT: Minimum of three star, sir. I can personally guarantee that all the rooms are clean and comfortable.
CUSTOMER: Say I want to make a reservation. Do I have to pay the full amount in advance?
TRAVEL AGENT: No. Only a 25 percent down payment is required. And you can take care of that over the phone by credit card, or by bank transfer within 24 hours of making your reservation.
CUSTOMER: I’d prefer to do it now. Is MasterCard OK?
TRAVEL AGENT: We take all major credit cards. Your full name, then?
CUSTOMER: Gregory Wellington.
TRAVEL AGENT: W-E-L-L-I-N-G-T-O-N?
TRAVEL AGENT: I’m just going to put you on hold for a moment while I open a file for you. Then we’ll complete your booking. Make sure you have your passport, your wife’s passport, and your credit card information handy.
CUSTOMER: All right.
