It is true that there are various purposes of the education. Some people argue that the education is for the personal desire for new knowledge. However, other people claim that the purpose of the education is to help socialisation and adjustment in the society.
On the one hand, there are some people arguing that from children to adults, the education is a desire for wanting new knowledge. Since people are born with curious about newness, the searching for different subjects such as culture, art, and economy is a natural characteristic. To specify this, because of the desiring for the knowledge, many people consistently take lessons and study interesting fields during free time, even if these lectures are not related to their job or major.
On the other hand, other people claim that the education makes them become a useful person in the contemporary society. Firstly, it helps people socialise with each other. By developing their interesting knowledge, people can easily converse with others who have similar concerns. As a consequence, this allows individuals foster a wide range of interpersonal network in the society. Moreover, the education helps people advance their skills for the work environment, which also means that the education makes people ready for the community. With the acquirement of various knowledge needed in the workplace in advance, people will be able to enhance performance significantly in the future. Take the example of university and college education. Most people choose their major for the future because most of the education in the university and college is a professional subject needed in the work field.
In conclusion, both views have their strong points. However, I personally think that the latter opinion is more convincing: contribution to the socialisation with people and developing people who have general skills needed in the workplace and society. |
