Your Answer ▼ Some people assert that the wide use of computers in education will makes the role of teachers redundant useless. However, I firmly believe that computers will never replace teachers because teachers provide students with things more than just information and give a guideline to adjust in a society. To begin with, even though computers can provide students with a number of information, teachers are needed to explain this information to students. Since computers provide a huge amount of information, students are often confused to organize them without a teacher. Thus, teachers are necessary to show students how to apply information properly to their performance in a useful way. They are also needed to select an appropriate computerized learning tools according to the students’ ability because computers would not consider their level. This is shows that the role of teachers is becoming more important.
On the top of that, teachers will always be an essential part of the education because there are many tasks that computers are unable to do. In particular, computers are have limited to teaching social skills. For example, teachers can organize a group activities, which improves student’s communication skills. In addition, teachers can prevent students from doing incorrect behavior because sometimes they have no ability to distinguish right from wrong. As the examples clearly show, there are many roles that only carried out by teachers. To sum up, while it is apparent that computers are a good education tool and utilized more, it is undeniable that teachers will never be totally replaced by them. |
