Your Answer ▼ It is a common belief that countries should spend their money much on ocean development. However, there is a more argument that this money has to use for people in need because basically citizens well-beings are solely dependent on governments' policies.
On the one hand, some people say that ocean research is crucial. This is because research and development for exploration leads to improvements in technology. This effort may lead to refinements on people's lives. To be specific, new knowledge of marine life and geology can be used in other fields. Recently, the Korean Research Center discovered new resources through researching marine geographical features. Still, the resources are needed to process better for using them stable in our lives, but this is only a matter of time.
Nevertheless, governments have to concentrate more on funding to places which significantly need their money. This makes sure those alleviating problems which directly affect the livelihood of people. As time goes by, people's lives are getting more concerning and frustrating these days because of many social problems around them, such as increased in unemployment rates, aging issues, and so on. Most social problems are not due to a lack of scientific research. As we know, the US invests a lot in technology, but still has pervasive social problems, like gun control. This means funding money on current issues and investing on ocean development are totally different matters, so both have to be considered respectively.
To sum up, while it is apparent that governments care about ocean development is vital to some extent, it is undeniable that resolving current problems by spending much money is much more important. |
