With advancement of modern society,
every aspect of a sense of economy has altered. While some proponents argue
that there are some issues related to not teaching high school students about
financial management, I believe that the problems can be addressed by some practical
methods in near future.
There are some reasons why high
school students begin the world without financial education.
First of all, a number of parents
tend to think that there is no need for children to learn budget management
skills, because they have given their children a sheltered upbringing. For
example, some parents give their sons and daughters pocket money as much as
they want. Owing to this, children are naturally less likely to recognize the
importance of managing money. Secondly, most education institutions incline to stick
to conventional curriculums without addition of a new subject as established
core subjects are so crucial for students.
However, there are solutions to
these problems. Most of all, state authorities should offer parents education
related to an awareness of a proper training at home such as opening a bank
account and recording personal expenditure. It could lead their children to be
independent beings. In addition, government should develop online courses in
regard to personal financial training, and distribute them to each school.
Students will have an opportunity to take these online lectures from their
teachers as an extracurricular homework.
In conclusion, although there are
various problems, I contend that it can be tackled by practical ways including
improvement of parents' awareness and creating online teaching approach.
