It is doubtful that an employer request
their candidate fills in a Curriculum Vitae which contains personal
information, however some people argue that personal information is not needed.
This essay will discuss both sides of the issue and my opinion will be
discussed in the conclusion.
On the one hand, in a CV, there are many
private questions, such as hobbies, the occupation of family members, and so
on. These can be useful because if the team member has the same interests, they
can enjoy them together and it would make a good atmosphere between them. Family
member’s job, for instance, someone especially the boss who has problems with
their health or the law, may have opportunities to solve the problems.
On the other hand, some people insist that
personal information will not be accepted should not be asked. Many countries, particularly in
western culture, do not request personal information because it has possibility
of discrimination. If marriage woman applied a job, and let interviewer know
her marital status, she will not be hired. Since she will be a pregnant and
have maternity leave, and company should pay for that. They do not want to
place financial strain on companies. This is because if she gets pregnant, she has to get a maternity leave which may put financial strain on the company
In conclusion, giving a personal information to
employer can be a beneficial to both interviewer and interviewee due to because we can avoid some
specific situations or share team member’s interests. However, it is still
discussed because of increase of discriminations or people’s stereotypes.
Therefore, it should be adjusted by employees and employers. |
