The two
pie charts illustrate the reasons in five categories why bicycle or car is
chosen to travel to work.
On the
first chart which shows the reasons for using bicycle to work, both groups of health
and fitness and less pollution reached the same highest proportions of 30 per
cent. The other three reasons, no parking problems, no costs and faster than
driving, are evenly relatively distributed, with 15 per cent, 13 percent and 12
per cent respectively. Each result from the three reasons is almost equal to
the values that two highest percentages are halved.
By contrast, the main reason for driving to work is comfort which
captured 40 per cent in the second chart, is followed by 21 per cent of distance
to work. Both faster than cycling and need to carry things took 14 per cent, but
they are not holding the largest proportion as the first chart. The group of
safer than cycling is 11 per cent, which is slightly less than the two same
portions.
In general, the purposes of people who do cycling to work are for improving
their health and participating environmental protection. On the other hands, the
motorists prefer more convenience and safer journeys over long distances to workplace.
