Nowadays, having a supper together in a family is barely
observed. This essay will explore the reasons for not having meals in a household
and the results it can bring into our society.
There are some clear factors why we are experiencing this
phenomenon. Spending too much time on studying or working to survive in this busy
society, a double-income family has become a common sight as a certain amount
of budgets is required to afford a house, car and demands for children. For children,
they are given their jobs to contribute to the future of his or her family. In Korea,
for example, the most high schoolers spend their time in school from 7am to
10pm to achieve higher academic performance to enter top universities. Thus, it
is hard for modern families to make a time to have meals together. for family meal.
There have already been negative side effects on households
and our society. The loss of opportunities to have a conversation between
family members is one of the worst effects. From my own experience, a dinner
table was the most important family time in my childhood, inquiring after each
other and announcing family plan for next days. Without having meals in a
household, there is no certain time to communicate with family members, which
generates broken relationship in family as they do not talk much. With these, a
lack of communication and socializing abilities are also seen in social groups,
which leads this society to confusion in communication.
In conclusion, it is having no meals in a family that
negatively affects to not only families but the society. Even though we have reasonable
and unavoidable factors of this phenomenon, we should make an effort with every
way possible for the future of our families and community. |
