In recent years, it has been much debated
whether learning practical techniques is necessary at school or not. It is
argued by some people that school should be just focused on academic subjects
for children and to a certain extent, I find their point convincing. However, I
do not agree with the idea and think that actual skills are also a significant
education with the reason to be explained the following paragraphs.
First and foremost, it is worth pointing
out that learning practical skills is beneficial for children. In other words,
practical techniques are more related to our life than academic subjects. For
example, nowadays, many people have their own car but they do not know how to
maintain their car. In this case, they even do not recognize their car defects
which may happen a dangerous car accident. If students learn practical skills
such as car maintenance and changing bulb at school, they would able to live
conveniently for their future life. Furthermore, students can deal with a little
thing in their life to be independent without dependence on the others as
learning actual skills.
Another point to make in backing up my
position is that I do not believe that academic education like mathematics and
science is more fundamental compared with practical skills. To illustrate, some
academic subjects are not related with children's career. As well as this, many
students take the class in complex mathematics but most students practically
use the basic calculation in society.
Therefore, it is more beneficial to learn practical techniques rather
than academic subjects.
In conclusion, while there are some reasons
to believe that practical skills are unnecessary at school. I believe
otherwise, owing to the reasons discussed above. | | | | | | |
