Test 1 Task 2
Some people argue that students ought to
have part-time jobs during their college years. Earning money from work may
reduce the amount of study time but overall I think there are more benefits from
part-time jobs.
Having a part-time job may reduce the hours
available for study and hence end up in bad test results. Thus, in the student
point of view having a part time job may not be a good decision. But I think
there are more benefits from earning money than having no part-time job.
First, if a student gets a job, he or she
can be able to buy what he/she wants. For example, the student can buy a pair
of shoes with great satisfaction as he/she can think of it as a reward from
hard-working.
Second, the student has an opportunity to
make good friends in the workplace. He/she can meet greater variety of people
than was in college. This is because college students have similar background
of coming from high-school with similar goals e.g. getting good grades, but in
the workplace people are all different by age and background. Therefore, there is
greater chance of making variety of friends
Third, having a part-time job can give you
greater experience than just attending college. For instance, main activities
of attending college can be attending lectures, doing coursework or going to
library. However, working part-time can enable the worker greater activities
depending on the area of work. If he works in a pizza shop he or she will learn
to put toppings on the pizza, bake the pizza and put in the box for delivery.
Furthermore, he or she may have to work in the cashier and thus meet customers.
In conclusion although the student may not
benefit from working hard of the college works, I believe there are greater
advantages of working as a part-time. He or she can buy whatever he/she wants
and thus gain satisfaction, and can experience different things than he/she was
just attending college; meeting different people or doing variety of activities.
Therefore, I think college students ought to have part-time jobs.
