Your Answer ▼ It is a common belief that when it comes to a group project student should be received same assessment after done it. However, there is a more persuasive argument that providing different scores to students is more important because doing so makes them realize what the reality is.
On the one hand, some people say that a teamwork should be applied for giving students' grades so that students are give the same grades. Specifically, a group work can be done when everyone in a group puts effort on it. Thus, overall result should be graded, not the contribution of each group member. For example, from my experience, I learned how to accomplish a goal as a team through a project evaluated on overall result. At that time, I only focused on that I would not disturb anyone because of me. This thought made me try my best on the project.
Nevertheless, I firmly believe that schools give students different marks on their group projects because this process is a good way to teach students what the real world is. Ultimately, students will realize this world is very competitive. In reality, people who do not do their part have to deal with the consequences. This means students are able to learn a sense of responsibility via a group project. For instance, in a sports world, best players always get the highest salaries, while the counterpart get replaced. This is reality and the quicker students learn about it, the better.
To sum up, while it is apparent that giving same marks to students is important to some extent, it is undeniable that different grades can teach students more about the real world in a positive way. |
