should get reward. Some say that it is for the students with high academic
performance, while others claim that those who improved most should get
benefits. In this essay both views will be discussed with my thoughts.
On the one hand, according to supporters of giving prizes to
smartest pupils, there are some clear reasons for it. First of all, the
academic performance itself proves their hard work and efforts. Undeniably, to achieve
higher academic results than others, one should be working on the classes and
homework or extra studies harder than the others. Moreover, prizing high marks
would another form of encouraging other pupils to get better marks. This is
because they will be aware of the benefits of being smart students, which
continues to motivate them to be the smartest students.
Nevertheless, other groups are arguing that one with the
most significant improvement should get prizes. Motivating not only the high
levels students but all the pupils in the class is the most valuable benefits
of it. Some pupils with no outstanding abilities in studying would be
discouraged by seeing smartest students getting constant prizes. This could
make them frustrated as they feel they are out of expectation from teachers. However,
giving rewards to those who with highest gap between marks around a year could be
of great help to attracting every pupil in classes.
In conclusion, it seems that both views have their own reasonable
reasons for their opinion. For my, however, the latter view is more convincing:
prizing only high scores can isolate the rest of students, but when they get
prizes by their improvements, each one of them will participate in the classes. |
