Nowadays, some people think that university
students should be able to choose their roommates. However, I believe that
universities should assign roommate for each students because doing so students
learn how to bring up problems and solve them with new people.
On the one hand, when schools assign
roommates, they cannot guarantee the compatibility of roommate. Specifically,
certain types of people cannot share room because of different life style. For
instance, sharing room with untidy sleeper who has sleep talking, snoring, or
even somnambulism could make roommate suffer.
Nonetheless, assigning roommates is better way
for students to learn how to deal with problems in future life. Schools should teach
not only academic knowledge but also behavior. In fact, a recent survey has
shown that students felt more mature after living with new roommates. They
learned how to understand other people and communicate each other.
To sum up,
while it is apparent that letting students to choose their roommates is one way
of giving student a right, it is undeniable that assigning roommates would be
more beneficial for students in life. |
