There have been many studies to know find out what
factors have the most important effects on children’s development. Many factors have been considered for a long time but mostly two factors of family members and
the surrounding people are stated.
There is a traditional view that highlight
the role of family members, especially parents when arguing about children’s development.
According to an expert, being loved by parents from a young age is
significantly important in children’s emotional development. Not only this makes children feel confident about themselves but also helps them to develop
the strength to deal with stressful situations throughout their lives. In a
research, children who built a good relationship with parents were shown to be
more capable to build a goal and make of building a goal and making actions needed to achieve it in a
particular situation. This clearly shows that family members are more important
for children’s development.
However, some people believe that children
are more influenced by their surrounding environment such as peer groups.
Although building a strong bond with parents have positive effects, parents are
sometimes too permissive, they spoil children. In this regard, peer groups have
positive effects on children in developing an ability to think and behave
responsibly while hanging out with their peer groups. For example, children can learn what things to be done for maintaining should be done to maintain the relationship such as showing up on time for an appointment, because
unlike parents, other people will not accept their irresponsible behaviors. It is
evident that peer groups have benefits for children’s development in other ways
that parents can’t do.
To sum up, family members and the
surrounding people are both advantageous to children’s development because they
provide different experiences for children that could help throughout in life.
