Becoming a successful member of society is generally thought to be responsible for universities. Some people think that universities should provide students with useful knowledge and skills required in the company. Others believe schools should give students basic information and background for its own benefit, regardless of whether the lecture is useful for an employer. In my point of view, schools should direct students to become useful members in the working place.
At school, learners can receive a lot of knowledge from lectures, books, teachers, and their peers. However, those are just only basic information and background for their wider community after graduation. I believe universities do better take care of students from the very beginning of study. Schools should provide the young generation guidelines for their future study, in which students can find out “what are their strong points?”, “what are their goals?” and “how to achieve success”. By those very clear setting points, students can study with great belief and motivation. For examples, if students want to become automotive engineers, universities should show a model engineer who can perform thermal, structure or fluid analysis by analytical of numerical method in a particular automotive company. After that, schools will give them more details about lists of courses which they should study to be able to analyze some typical tasks in those vehicle companies.
At the same time, schools should cooperate with those enterprises or related ones to provide students chances to have visual visiting, study and experiments in real companies. By this way, I think students will have great motivation to study with very clear target so that they surely become effective employee in companies. In summary, universities should play an important role for the success of their students by providing them with details instruction, logical and helpful subjects. With those backgrounds, the student will definitely have confidence in their working life. |
