People have
various opinions concerning whether universities should regulate numbers of
students by gender in every subjects. Even though some argue that regulations
should be accepted, I firmly believe that it should not be regulated. This
essay will show my opinion with two reasons. If
universities set numbers of students by gender, students would be dissatisfied to
them, based on the fact that students cannot take courses that they want to
participate in. According to lots of research, it is clear that the preference towards
subjects is different between male and female. In other words, male students
tend to take courses related to computer engineering or mathematics, while female
students prefer to take literature or sociology courses. However, if the
universities equally set the numbers of students, some students might take
unwanted courses or fail to register what they want to take. Thus, the
regulation will bring the dissatisfaction of both male and female students.
Apart
from the dissatisfaction, another reason lies on this topic; there is no compelling
reason to accept students by gender equally in university system. Since students
enter to university, they have rights to decide what to study, considering
their future jobs. However, the regulation can restrict the right of students
and give unwanted experience. Rather, universities respect the choice of
students in terms of choosing subjects and guarantee the better curriculum for
them.
To
sum up, based on the aforementioned reasons, the satisfaction of students and
students rights, numbers of male and female students should not be equal in
subjects in university system.
