It is
commonly known that reviewing other people’s work is beneficial because people
can gain basic information which helps to invent a new idea. However, some
people become concerned about negative effects of this because it may cause
plagiarism.
Those who approve of using the existing
thoughts assert that copying others' thoughts can lead people to save time of searching basic information. By learning from others’ work, people can collect materials
that they need for developig a new idea. In fact, many researchers adapt existing thoughts for their new theory and they report this helps them to find out a breakthrough(???) by improving drawbacks of the previous works. Therefore, it is beneficial to use other people’s work when it aims to invent a
new idea.
However, people should be cautious of using
others’ thoughts as it has a risk of plagiarism. Copying the previous idea in
an appropriate way is accepted, however, some people tend to misuse of this by
just slightly changing details and naming the idea on their own. Therefore, it
is evident that some actions are needed to differentiate(?) if the behavior of learning from others' idea is to just copy the whole idea or refer to invent a new idea. In particular, this
plagiarism often occurs in the field of art. With this reason, many
institutions and laws related to the copyright of art works have been actively
built in society. It clearly shows that people need to be cautious when they
use other people’s thoughts.
In my opinion, referring to other people’s
work as basic information is beneficial as it allows people to invent a new
breakthrough. However, people should not too rely on others’ idea and need to
be more careful when they adapt this for their own theory.
