▶ Your Answer :
In many
countries, opportunities for educations are easily accessible for everybody.
Others claim that education in all levels should be free of charge. While I
agree with the idea that education should be easy to access and should not be
financial burden to people, I think people have to pay for at least
post-secondary educations.
Education
should be opened to anybody who wants to study or learn either academic or
practical skills. In many developing countries, opportunities for learning are
not equally give to their citizens, and as a result of that, citizens who do
not have chance to be educated become illiterate and have limited access to
their social and political rights. Moreover, these differences in opportunities
in education would worsen poverty and discrimination that they should overcome to
prosper their economy and society.
Even
though rights to be educated must be opened and equal to regardless of their economic
backgrounds, I think there is no need for provide all level of education for
free. Firstly, operating cost of post-secondary educational institutions, including
payments for their workers and buying appliance for research, are incomparably high
than primary or secondary educations. So, many institutions depend on tuitions
from their student to operate. If those institutions are run by governments,
people may have to pay higher taxes to support educational budgets. Secondly, not
every student needs and wants to enroll in post-secondary education. Students
who wish to learn more practical skills might benefit courses from practical
fields rather than academic courses in post-secondary education. Finally, there
are many ways to help students that need financial support to pursue their
academic careers and goals. For instance, many universities offer scholarships
and student loans to help them.
To summarize, it
is very important to give equal rights in educations for people from different
backgrounds, but it is not necessary to provide all levels of education for
free.
