The given table provides information concerning average distance
travelled per person in 1985 and 2000. The figures are reported by method of travel.
In
both 1985 and 2000, car was ranked the first method of travel. The average
distance increased from 3199 in 1985 to 4806 in 2000. It is noteworthy that car,
in 1985 and 2000, accounted for roughly two thirds and three quarters of the
entire distance travelled, respectively.
On the other hand, taxi was the least used
transport in 1985 (13 miles) although it rapidly grew to 42 until 2000. Due to
this growth, bicycle, which was the second least used mode of travel in 1985,
became the least used mode in 2000.
Meanwhile,
it is seen that the distance travelled by walking, bicycle, and local bus
declined while that travelled by the other modes rose. Overall, the total
distance travelled also grew from 4740 to 6475 miles per person, which is about
30 percent growth. |
