It is a
common belief that student should be able to choose their art and music class
by themselves. However, I firmly believe that these courses must be taken by
every school mandatorily. This is because art and music activities can foster
students' creativity and those experiences make them relieve stress.
To begin
with, obligatory art and music classes foster students' creativity. The reason
why these courses are crucial is that those performed by schools encourage
students to express their emotion and thought freely and originality, which
helps them have a more creative attitude. For example, in Korea, almost every
schools provide different of creative classes once a week, such as drawing,
stitching and singing. Unlike other lecture classes, these creative courses
make children learn about cooperating and developing an original thought. As a
result, through those activities, some students find their interest and
aptitude for the future job.
On top of
that, creative classes provide opportunities for students to relieve their
stress. These experience, such as seeing, listening, touching and feeling, can
help pupils remove their bad thought and emotion. Take the example of colour
play classes. According to the current survey, each colour has a particular
effect psychologically and affect people's feeling indirectly, so the
appropriate use of colour helps one's stress can be released. Thus, these days,
for many students who are too much under stress from lessons or personal
problems, all of the school counsellors have bee providing art activities.
To sum up,
although art lessons are mandatory, these activities encourage students
creativity and make them release stress from external hard situations. For
these reasons, I agree that it is necessary to maintain art and music classes
obligatorily.
