It is true that the media has affected many people in various ways.
Although some people claim that it makes societies uniform, I agree with the
view that all over the world and people have been more diversified and creative.
To begin
with, there are some people arguing that the media may be able to reduce and
remove individuals' personality. This is because people in different countries
just follow the global trend by sharing information, which causes to leave only
monotonous style in the world. For example, with the introduction of the
Internet, people can easily take the fashion trend especially through the
online fashion blogs or Instagram, which makes people more and more follow the
style of famous fashion peoples. As a result, almost every people show similar
fashion style. There is no personality and creative. However, despite
disadvantages of the media which makes a uniform community, the media have a
lot of benefits to the world.
First
of all, individuals can learn various culture and outlook. Many documentaries
and movies which depict cultures of different countries give exotic knowledge
to those who cannot directly see and experience the way of the distance countries' life. Thanks to the
mediums, people can expand their common sense. For instance, I always watch TED
lectures during my free time and learn how other people think about the world,
which leads to my improvement of global knowledge. Additionally, the media
provide many sources of inspiration to the artist all over the world. Since
there is an enormous amount of the information, they can readily and quickly
get more helpful materials through the Internet than before. It helps artists
come up with more ideas and create original works.
In
conclusion, I agree with the latter view that the media has many advantages:
contribution to expanding people's way of thinking and providing various useful sources.
