It is great worth of discussing whether
fewer languages are beneficial or not. Some people insist that several
languages disappearing is not important. On the other hand, the others claim
that it has negative effects for people on losing their own languages. Although
there are mixed opinions on using fewer languages, I strongly believe that
fewer languages will make people’s lives easier.
To
begin with, in these globalized society, more people tend to use major languages
which are spoken by many people such as English, Chinese and Spanish. As a
result of this phenomenon, several languages have been disappeared. According
to a survey conducted by International Social Networking Institute, 85 percent
of world population uses their second languages more often than their mother
tongue to communicate with international friends by using the same languages
such as English.
On
top of that, modern developed technologies allow people to travel globally ,and
common languages for curtain places, such as Chinese in Taiwan and Singapore, makes
people travel freely. For example, when I was a university students, I went to Taiwan.
While I was staying there, I talked to them in Chinese, they talked to me in
Chinese as well. From my experience, I have realized that if more people use
the same language, it would be opportunities for them to improve the quality of
their lives.
In
conclusion, more and more people use common languages instead of speaking their
first languages. In addition, since people use the same language, it has been
easier to communicate other people and travel freely. In this regard, I agree
with the given statement that the fewer languages will make the world the more
convenient.
