People seem to hold different perspective on the values of team
sports and independent sports. Some groups say that sports which require a team
is more advantageous, while others claim that solo sports is more beneficial.
This essay will explore both views with my own thoughts.
On the one hand, there are a few reasons why people support that
solo sports is better. Those who are independent and do not generate a good
harmony with others would face many difficulties in team play.
By playing alone, one can apply her or his own experiences and strategies,
having no complicated and mixed tactics combined with others’. Further, there
will be no one whom the solo players can blame at as he or she has to be responsible
for all the game histories, which is helpful for those who are highly
competitive because it could bring crashes between players.
On the other hand, there are people saying that playing sports
in a group has more favorable merits. Since every participant has different
talents and weaknesses, having group members who are able to cover one's faults
and weak points would be of a great help to each other. Teamwork and the sense
of fellowship in team play are good ways of educating how to socialize and
respect with others. This is because sports require not only physical abilities
but interaction and communication skills to be a one body. I agree with this
view, realizing there are more valuable things players can experience in a team
which solo players cannot.
In conclusion, it is true that both views have strong
perspective on its advantages and values of being a sports player. However, the
latter view is more convincing to me: it is team play that brings more merits
than playing sports alone. |
