Governments consist of numerous factors that impact people
and society such as economy, military, foreign relation, finance, welfare and
so on. Some argue that most governments place the utmost value in the
advancement in economy, thus aim to reach that purpose. However, others claim that
improvements in welfare and foreign relation are as equally critical as the economic
progression. In my opinion, welfare and foreign relation are fundamental
concepts to consider in any types of governments.
First of all, it is true that a wealthy government creates a
strong government. It is because the status of economy influences employment
rates, business successes, housing markets and other various aspects of society
and the lives of people. For instance, the United States suffered greatly after
the stock market crash in 2008. The housing market demolished and the
unemployment rate was through the roof. The U.S. government was determined to
restore the former glory over the 10 years. The effort was not fruitless. The unemployment
rate decreased significantly and housing market was stabilized.
On the other hand, advancements in welfare and foreign
relation are critical as well. Welfare, of course, determines the standard of
living of all people regardless of their economic status in the country. A
solid welfare system will ensure the increase in the quality of life of
citizens, while a flawed welfare system will not only decrease, but also ruin
the quality of life. In addition, foreign relation is a concept that one cannot
fail to recognize its importance in society as it is closely related to
military, economy and politic due to the effect of globalization. For example,
having a mutual foreign relation with a certain country will enhance the international
trade.
In conclusion, governments should consider developing the
economy of the country as one of their purposes because its advantages are evident.
Nonetheless, they should also mind the fact that it is not the only factor to
consider and put more emphasis on advancing welfare and foreign relation of the
country. |
