It is true that there
are lots of demands for wanting more construction of railways. Some people
argue that increasing number of railways is beneficial to the citizens who are
living in a suburb of the cities. However, other people claim that the government
should spend money on improving initial facilities of transportation for
safety.
To begin with, there
are some people arguing that constructing new subway lines much critical to the
public. To be more precise, there are far more people who live on the outskirts
due to the higher cost of renting houses in the city. Thus, the more the government
build up new railways connecting between cities, the more people can commute
easily to their workplaces located in the centre of the metropolises. For
example, with the construction of new rail lines such as KTX, in Korea, the
time spending on travelling from suburbs into the cities has been dramatically
declined by approximately fifty percent, which makes people feel more
comfortable when they make journeys, as a consequence.
On the other hand,
other people claim that the government should invest revenue in advancing
existing transportation. This is because the old facilities of the trains or
subways cause lots of dangers to the public. Therefore, by enhancing long-standing problems in the public transportation, the government and traffic
institutions substantially can protect the people from external hazards. For
instance, in Korea, due to lack of safety equipment near the train platforms,
many people have been injured or even died when they use them. As a result, the
government has nationally constructed safety doors in the subway, which results
in the exponential reduction of the deadly incidents about trains just in the last few years.
In
conclusion, both views have their strong points. However, I agree with the idea that the latter view is more
convincing. This is because developing existing transportation is more directly
related to our safety and lives. |
