It is true that
nowadays the government invest a lot of money in developing traffic system.
Some people argue that a more construction of the paths can increase people's
income as a whole. However, other people claim that the government should spend
the budget on building more public transport lines rather than roads.
To begin with, there
are some people arguing that lots of motorways are needed for the public. To be
more precise, since a host of corporations are situated in the centre of the
city, the accessibility to central town is substantially essential for the
citizens. By expanding road network, we can reduce the people's income
disparity significantly. For example, in Korea, with the more construction of the expressways
between city and suburb area, the time spending on the road to commute has dramatically declined in the last few
decades. As a result, people who live on the outside of the city have been able
to earn more money than before by taking a job in a town. However, although the
more construction of the freeways has lots of advantages, I agree with the idea
that the government should spend more revenue on the development of railways.
First, the
advancement of the public transportation is more beneficial to the public. This
is because it can reduce the amount of traffic congestion remarkably. With the
well-organised and increased number of the subway and the bus lines, the more
people have been choosing to take the transport rather than their cars. Thus, the quantity of the traffic on the roads has considerably decreased as a consequence, which also brings about
enhancement of air condition of the cities with the drop in the exhaust. Moreover, while developing the railways, the
public can enjoy much faster traffic means especially during rush hours. For
example, in Kore, with the construction of the KTX, individuals living on the
outskirts of the city have been able to experience by far quickest transport
system. So, the time travelling between their home and work has exponentially decreased to fifty percent in the recent few years.
In conclusion, even
though the investment in construction of highways is also beneficial, I agree
with the idea that the latter view is more convincing: contribution to the
improvement of the level of environment and people's lives. |
