welcome to pharmacy school!
we honestly have no idea why you guys are so eager to throw away your $$$s.
but since you are, we will make sure to extract as much $$$s from you as possible.
we built this shiny new school just for that purpose. and even made the program 4 years long to maximize our profits!
after 4 years of hard work, you'll all practically be over-educated pill counters at most.
that is, if you are lucky enough to find a job. good luck on that by the way.
but even if did, your already tedious job will be replaced by machines in less than a decade!
retail giants are already cracking the whip to have you work as fast as possible to make the best bang for their buck.
of course they're going to replace the whole operation with a few machines to cut costs and leave just one pharmacist on site.
for what you say? liability reasons of course. when shit goes down they need a real person to take the blame.
so yeah, in the upcoming age of industrial revolution, instead of being able to enjoy the fruits of technological innovations, you guys will be the sacrificial lambs from the old era. what will you tell your children? that you didn't think it through?
by the time you get out of school, you'll most likely be sitting on top of more than $150,000 in debt and looking at the prospect of an extremely competitive job market, not getting even half as much respect compared to real doctors, having to please corporate management, dealing with idiot customers all the while those annoying phones keep on ringing, scripts piling, drive-thru queue and waiting line getting longer and longer... and ultimately having to hand over your job that cost you so much money, time, and ordeal... to a robot. what a perfect cherry on top, right?
oh, and let's not forget how many new pharm.d grads we produce each year.
there are a fuck ton of them. you will not get a job in your desired area nor will you get the level of salary you want. retails know you guys are ready to kill each other for a job, and will take advantage of the current oversupply of pharmacists by diluting your salary. don't be too surprised that what used to be a guaranteed 6-figure income becomes $25/hour in the next few years.
but of course, we won't tell you any of this stuff. why should we?
our purpose is to squeeze every dollar we can from you.
and if you sit on top of a 6-figure debt load by the time you get out school, why should we care?
after all, it is YOU who haven't done your DUE DILIGENCE before committing so much of your time, money, and LIFE to this rapidly deteriorating profession.
Best of luck out there!
:)
