In some business cultures, it is the practice to hire workers when they are young and keep them on until they retire. In other business cultures, companies hire people to do a job and then fire them when they are no longer needed. To me, the important consideration in today’s economy is job performance.
Today there is a lot of competition among companies who need workers who can perform tasks well. We need to find skilled workers who can do their jobs without a lot of training. We need to match jobs with competent workers, and if the jobs change, we change the workers.
Because of this increase in competition, we need to be able to produce our goods or services quickly. We need young people who are willing to put their soul into their work, and who are fast and willing to push themselves to do their jobs faster.
In order to compete, we have to be innovative. By changing our workforce frequently, we can bring in new ideas. We must constantly look for new ways to do things. We need new workers with new points of view.
Although a company that respects its workers and workers who are loyal to their company are noble ideas, they are not practical today. Skilled workers do not want to be tied up by a company; they want the flexibility to improve their careers. Change makes the economy grow. |
