A friend of mine from college is moving to the city where I live, so I’ve been thinking about what she would and wouldn't like about this city. I’d say the quality of life here, as far as fun activities are concerned, is very good; in other ways, however, the quality of life isn't very good.
Living in a lager city is exciting, but you have to spend more on living expenses. There are lots of interesting things to do, such as good restaurants that offer a variety of cuisine. There are museums, art galleries, and lots of movie theaters. At the same time, the crime rate is high, and people should be careful at night because of crime. There's a lot of traffic most of the time, and finding a parking space is hard as well. There are many people living here; sometimes it feels too crowded.
In a big city like this, housing rates are very expensive. It costs a lot even if you're just renting a temporary apartment. The good side is that there are so many choices that you can look at pictures of floor plans to choose the layout of your apartment. You can find apartments of all sizes in different locations. Housing prices are variable and are often on discounted or for temporary lease.
If my friend likes the outdoors, she might be disappointed. Unfortunately, this city doesn't have a lot of wide, open spaces for outdoor activities and there aren't many trees on the streets. It’s not near the ocean, and the mountains are a day’s drive from here. Still, we do have some natural areas. For example, we have a large and beautiful park in the city. It also has a lake in the center that is used for ice skating in winter.
When I think about it, my friend’s feelings about the city will depend on her recreational interests. I hope she likes various recreational activities and doesn’t mind a limited outdoor environment. If she does, then this is the place for her. |
