I don't think it is a good idea for teenagers to have jobs while they are still students. It can interfere with their studies, it can disrupt their lifestyle, and it takes away part of their personal life.
Education today is very complex and difficult. In order to learn and get good grades at school, a student must study hard. This means attending classes early in the morning until late afternoon, then doing research for projects, then going home and finishing homework. It’s a busy schedule for many students. For someone who is trying to hold down a job, it’s even harder. Students need all their energy for studying. If they're working after class at night, they’re going to be tired the next day. They won't be able to concentrate on their studies at school. This negatively affects their learning, and eventually their grades.
Having a job can also disrupt a teenager's life, such as making a trouble with their family. If a child starts to work, whole family would spend less hours together at home. If a teenager has a job after school, he won't be able to join the family dinner because of work. The less time spent at home, conversation between parents and child will be demised.
The main drawback of a teenager having a job while they are still a student is that they are missing out on the fun of being young. They have a whole lifetime in which they'll have to earn a living. This is the last time that a young teenager will be free, and it’s the last chance that they’ll have to hang out with peers and just enjoy themselves.
A job brings in money, but money isn't everything. Young teenager shouldn’t spend all their time at working. |
