New factories often bring many good things to a community, such as providing jobs to communities and increasing prosperity in nearby areas. However, in my opinion, the benefits of having a factory are outweighed by the risks. That is why I oppose the plan to build a factory near my community.
I believe that this city would be harmed by a large factory. In particular, a factory would harm the quality of the air and water in town. In the case of a factory, it’s already predicted to bring smog and pollution. If we think about the long-term, the environment will worseas time goes by. Indeed, it will affect on people who live in town because they will breathe in dirty air and drink water that was from the river, which might be harmed by water pollution from the factories.
Many people believe that there will be more job opportunities when the factory is open. However, as workers are increasing, more houses, dorms, and stores will be needed. Here arises one quick question; “do we really want this much growth in town so fast?” If our town is going grow, I would prefer to have slow growth with good planning. I don’t want to see rows of cheaply constructed townhouses. Our quality of life must be considered.
I believe bringing factories into town will take the quality of life and patterns from natives. I love my hometown because it is safe. It is also easy to travel from one place to another. If we must expand to hold new citizens, the small-town feeling will disappear.
To conclude, the factory would be helpful in some ways, however, I feel that the dangers are greater than the benefits. I cannot support a plan to build a factory here, and I hope that others feel the same way.
