People go to colleges or universities for many reasons. In my opinion, the three most common reasons are these: to prepare for a career to have a new experience and to gain self-knowledge
Career preparation is becoming more important to young generations and people who are seeking a job. The reason is that even if you have a job, that doesn’t mean you can keep that job forever. People who are seeking a job should know that the job market is becoming competitive day by day. At college, students are learning new skills for future careers. For example, as advanced skills in computer science are becoming a commonplace requirement in the workforce, university students are required to take related courses
Furthermore, students have opportunities to meet new people from all around the world. They have to learn how to be independent and how to behave in society. In addition, this may be the first time the student is making his/her own decisions
Besides seeking self-understanding, students have another reason why they go to college. They go to expand their own knowledge in the subjects that they are interested in. For many, this might be their last chance to learn about new subject that don’ relate to their careers.
To conclude, I would recommend people not to be focused on a career. They should go to college or university to have new experiences, and learn about themselves and the world they live in. |
