▶ Your Answer : As the progress of the human civilization and the quality of life style develop rapidly, people are putting more significance on children's educations. Nowadays, it is becoming more controversial whether art and music should be mandatory school subjects just like math, history, language, and science. In my opinion, children should be educated not only subjects like math but also art and music. First and foremost, the reason we should teach our children art and music is because both are as essential in life as any other subjects. For example, oday's education systems require children to learn history to learn about their ancestors, and math to gain basic skills on calculating numbers. Nevertheless, they are overlooking the fact that art and music also nurture children's capabilities to have and deal with emotions. These subjects can further be the ground for the children to interact with one another. Therefore, these subjects should also be included in mandatory subjects. Secondly, putting art and music as requirements matches with the purpose of school, which is to learn about being part of a community. To be specific, schools are made to educate practical knowledge in life. On top of that, schools have the responsibility to nurture our children to become a sociable being who can sympathize with others. Hence, to meet the goal of schools, they should no only educate practical matters, but also how to become a member of society. It is, as a result, inevitable for art and music to be part of mandatory subjects. To sum up, it is my utmost desire to insist that art and music should be offered as mandatory school subjects along with math, history, and science. Art and music are the greatest and crucial subject that can enrich our lives as humans. |
