it comes to deciding whether companies should pay for their employees to get a
university or graduate school degree, some say that giving financial aid to them
is unfair and would distract other employees by perturbing to pursue a college
degree. However, I think both the companies and the employees will be benefited
when the companies pay for the school’s tuition. The reasons illustrating this
opinion are stated in following paragraphs.
To
begin with, employees can learn plenty of valuable knowledge such as fundamental
theories and updated technologies from the university courses. Then they would
go back to their companies and introduce new machines and technology or they
can even develop new techniques based on what they have learned. For instance,
I have seen several students in my university who are backed by their companies
to pursue their degrees. They said that their companies encourage their
employees to pursue further degrees by aiding them financially because higher
degree employees are able to do much complicated work. Thus, the companies
would be benefited a lot by these employees
Next, employees can be motivated to acquire a
university degree when they are aided by their companies. Most of them have
families to support financially or lack of budget to pay off debts, thus feeling
to go back to school quite burdensome due to monetary problems. However, if
they get full funding from their companies, they would not worry much about the
budget problems and can focus on pursuing the degree. My aunt who had her job
immediately after her high school graduation had wanted to go university and
get a degree but hesitated because of the tuition fee. Fortunately, she was
selected as the top employee in her field and got full aid, achieving her goal
to have a university degree.
Finally, companies can use their financial
support programs to advertise themselves. Supporting those who want to have a
degree but hesitating to get it will look positively to the public, improving the
companies’ social images. In addition, there are a lot of job seekers who are talented
enough to receive a higher education but gave up due to financial problems and
finding a job. They would find these companies appealing, thus companies can
attract these smart people to apply, enhancing overall competitiveness of the
corporation.
To
sum up, even though paying for their employees’ university tuition might be
burdensome sometimes, it is advantageous for employees as well as the companies
in the long run. Employees can be motivated to have higher degrees and companies,
too, can be benefited from those who learned theories and new technologies in
depth. Furthermore, companies can make themselves look more appealing to job
seekers, attracting more qualified employees. Therefore, I agree with the
following statement that companies have to back their employees financially to
get a college degree.
