In
the lecture, the professor casts doubt on the reading passage’s idea that the
process of how, when and where dogs were domesticated. The professor asserts
that these results of research are not correct by disproving them.
To
begin with, the professor argues that wolves which became the ancestor of dogs
originally chase down preys when they see it. According to the reading passage,
dogs are disciplined to hunt as assistants of humans. In opposition to the
argument, the professor says that wolves rather does not match with humans
because people usually set traps for hunting which is opposite to wolves’
hunting method.
On
top of that, the professor claims that scientists found the pair of foot prints
of a boy and a dog beside to each other. According to the passage, scientists
found out dogs were domesticated around 16,000 years ago through tracking the
differences of DNA. On the contrary, the professor states that the trace of
foot prints were made 26,000 years ago which is earlier than the existing
theory.
Lastly,
the professor rebuts the reading’s point that all dogs domesticated were from
China, by stating that ancient dog bones were discovered in multiple places.
The professor points out that there were four distinctive ancestors of dogs
which were found in Europe, North America and other regions besides China.
