▶ Your Answer :
It is more important to give students prizes or awards for their efforts than for their achievements. Which is more important, giving students prizes for their efforts or for their achievements. Some people think that offering prizes for efforts is more meaningful because it help students realize the importance of process and feel fulfilled. Others think that receiving prizes for their achievements is more beneficial for students.I believe that students can benefit from being rewarded for their achievements in two aspects:for getting good grades in studies and for their successful life.
First of all, It is more important to offer students awards for results than for their efforts because it can contribute to excellent school performance. To be specific, being rewarded for their results requires them to understand objective standards by having them to be self-desciplined. When this trait is developed, it is more likely to bring a better result in school. For example,Waseda university found that there is a huge difference beween two groups of young students in their academic peoformance. One group consisted of those who had been received prizes only for their achievements and the other group was made up of those who had got credit for their efforts while they were preparing university entrance exam. The researchers found that the former was more likely to have higher on the SAT than the letter. In particular, the first group showed a longer attention span, a stronger endurance in managing hard tasks, and have the ability to gain access to valuable information. On the other hand, the second group tended to give up difficult tasks in a relatively short time and to get distracted more easily compared to the former groups. This implies that receiving awards for their accompishments has a key role in getting excellent grades.Hence, this shows that being judged by accompishments is beneficial to achieve great academic performances.
In addition, being rewarded for achievements is more valuable for students. Since it can teach them how to achieve success efficiently. To be concrete, being judged by their acomplishments lead them to be punctual and to eliminate unnecessary steps to achieve their academic goals, which as a result allows them to learn practical skills for a successful life. For instance, when my sister was a college student, she was reputed as a considerable person amonong her acquaintances. In other words, she put her priority on process than on the result itself and tried to be satisfied with herself and her surroundings. However, at some point, she was getting depressed thinking that her endeavors never paid off both in friendships and in her studies. Fortunately, she dealt with her problems by working in a preparatory school as a math teacher because she had to raise tuition. In the job, her salary was always evaluated only by the students' academic records and her attitude or popularity among students were never reflected in her wage. My sister started to concentrate on a critical element for good results and to eliminate unnecessary procedures. As a result, she could earn enough money by finding practical way to meet the need of the students' better academic results. After the experience, her life became easy and convenient and now she has a successful carreer in her field displaying her ability and getting credit for it as well.
All things considered,it is my belief that my argument regarding this topic has been precisely and effectively delivered with the reasons mentioned above. Never should we forget that this issue may have a huge impact on students' future.
