Some
people think that the government should invest in practical things in society rather
than beautiful ones. However, on the contrary to this, I firmly believe that
the government has to fund gorgeous things above all. The compelling logic behind
this is that they relieve people’s stress and contribute to economic
development.
To
begin with, the national agency’s investment in good-looking things helps
people to blow out their stress. To be more specific, attractive things in
public consist usually of artworks and tourist spots, making people interested
and excited by experiencing these factors. This can reduce people’s stress
level to some extent while they are engrossed in appreciating the things. Thus,
if the administration supports them with enough money for their development, it
will give more and more people chance to get rid of their stress. From my
personal experience, my mother and I visited the States for sightseeing a
couple of years ago. We first dropped by New York City and watched a lot of precious
masterpieces displayed at Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). My heart pounded with
excitement as I saw the painting in person, The Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh.
As time passed, we came by Las Vegas and looked at a magnificent landscape stretched
in the Grand Canyon. I was extremely thrilled as I viewed its unique geographical
features by water erosion. During the trip, we could enjoy all the tourist
attractions comfortably since the national institution managed them well.
Consequently, I forgot completely my worries about private matters, which
caused heavy stress.
On
top of that, the government’s support for attractive things is helpful to enhance
a nations’ economy. To explain, beautiful things as mentioned above hold a strong
potentiality to attract millions of paying visitors to the place where they
are. Therefore, more a country’s national institution makes an investment in
the things, more its tourism industry prosper. For instance, Yongin, a city in
Korea, is famous for an old-fashioned and traditional village. It has also tons
of valuable relics that are important traces for Korean history. When the town
were found by a group of archaeologists in a university, most people did not
know the site and were not interested in the discovery. However, the Korean government
recognized that the antique residential area was worth tens of millions of
dollars, funding not only its maintenance but also projects for building various
facilities and infrastructures ranging from luxurious hotels to local
amenities. Thanks to these efforts, a great number of tourists head for Younin per
year and creates an array of jobs such as ticket sellers, parking attendants,
and cashiers. As a result, the city has earned immense incomes since then.
To
sum up, although some people assert that it is reasonable for the government to
invest more in pragmatic things in society than good-looking ones, it is true
that the national agency should make more investments in the latter. The rationale
behind this is that it can relieve people’s stress and make an economic growth. |
