3. According to the reading, the writer aruges that the university should tear down the auditorium.
The man does not think it is a good idea.
First, he says that the buidling has a historical value. To be specific,It is one of the first built structrues on campus. When consdiering the situation that not many old buildings remain on campus, the auditorium acts as a reminder of the university's past.
Second, he says that tearing down the old builing cannot save money. To be specific, demolishing the building and building new one is a very expensive process. Also the new buidling need repairs. which means that the universiity has to pay for the maitenance fee.
For these reasons, the man oppose to the writer's idea.
4. According to the reading, Method of Loci is the concept that people can use to memorize information effectviely by linking new information to location.
The profesor explains how we can apply this concept to real life by giving a example.
First, she describes that coming up with familar places and things to do is the first step to do. She presents the bakery, mailbox and telecom shop as examplary places. As for things to do, she suggests buying a birthday gift for her friend, emailing an important message and paying a bill.
Second, she describes that associating visualized information to lankmarks is the second step to do. She visualzies this way. A cake with a present in the bakery, A computer stuffed into the mailbox and Lots of money knocking on the telecom shop. She explains that if she walks through familiar places and imagines this types of scenes, things to do will pop up in mind natrually.
This example demonstartes method of loci.
5. The woman's problem is that the scheduled lecturer canceled to give a speical lecture in her class.
The woman suggests two possible solutions to the problem. The first solution is to show her students a documentary on the same topic. The second suggestion is to prepare class materials for a normal class.
I think the second suggestion is better for her. Her class is behind schedule. So doing a normal class will be a good chance to catch up on the original schedule. Also she has a free time to prepare class materials. If she shows students the documentary, she will have trouble handling the lagged schedule in the future.
For these reasons, I would recommend the second option for her.
6. The professor explains the digestive process by presenting two separate concepts.
First, he describes the mechanical digestion. In this process, foods are crushed into smaller pieces by the physical force of the teeth. Each tooth plays a diffrent role during the process. The sharp teeth are responsible for biting and tearing the food. And the flat teeth grind the food into smaller parts.
Second, he describes the chemical digestion. In this process, enzymes break the food into basic elements that can be used by cells as a nutrient. In the stomach, proteins and fats are broken into nutirents by a specific enzyme produced from the stomach. In the small intestine, starches and amino are transformed into matters for clells by another enzyme.
Two processes consist of the whole digestive process.
